Body found 'on cottage bonfire'
Three people have been arrested after a body was discovered on the remains of a bonfire in the garden of a cottage. West Mercia Police said they believed the body found in Wormelow, in Herefordshire, on Thursday, is that of a 40-year-old man. Home Office pathologists have been brought in to conduct a post-mortem examination. Another house in nearby Much Birch, which is about seven miles south of Hereford, has also been sealed off. Officers have been carrying out forensic searches at both properties, a spokesman added. Other police teams have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area. In a statement, police said the body was found lying on the remains of a bonfire in the grounds of the cottage and want anyone with information to contact them. "Police are treating the death as unexplained at present and are hoping that the results of the post mortem, forensic tests and other available evidence will enable them to focus the enquiry in a positive direction," it said.
